San Diego Proposal-Point Loma Lighthouse

I have always been a romantic at heart...I cry at almost every romantic movie.  I love LOVE. I get my share of real life romance regularly which is why I love what I do so much.

I think that proposing to someone is one of the most romantic gestures. Do you remember the show A Perfect Proposal? The host would help a girlfriend or boyfriend plan out a sweet surprise proposal…and yes tears were always shed on my end. Last month I was contacted by Avani from Ever After Proposals. They are a company based out of New york that plan marriage proposals. Avani told me about her client Arkadius who would be visiting San Diego from Germany. Arkadius wanted to surprise his girlfriend Alessandra with a romantic picnic. I was so excited at the thought of another proposal…I have a few under my belt, but it had been a while since my last one. The location they chose was the Cabrillo National Monument, a gorgeous location in San Diego overlooking all of downtown. The view is pretty spectacular.

A month after our initial contact the big day was here. I was so giddy, and a little nervous on the drive to the location. Knowing that Alessandra was going to have the most unforgettable day when Arkadius got down on his knee to profess his love for her, made me feel a little emotional. These moments make me remember how surreal it felt the day that Derrick got down on one knee and proposed to me at the Montage in Laguna Beach. Alessandra was about to experience the same feeling and that was so exciting. I arrived early with the greatest team in tow, my hubby, and our 3 month old baby, Harrison. The location was stunning…it was on a cliff with an unobstructed view of the ocean in all directions. For the picnic, I used a blush ruffled blanket and a cream lace overlay. I illustrated a gold chalkboard with “Alessandra ich lieb dich” which means “Alessandra I love you” in German. I added two pink lemonade cupcakes, and a bottle of apple cider. I finished it up with a picnic basket, pillows, vintage china, a vintage suitcase, lanterns, and candles. The mood was truly topped off with beautiful music played by a live pianist! Yep, this proposal included a live piano player! Rada with Piano Passions was amazing…she played the couples favorite romantic songs…sigh. I wish I could have hid in the bushes…I know creepy...and seen this proposal go down.  Samantha Bonpensiero captured the moment and the reaction on Alessandra's face is truly priceless. If you or anyone else you know needs a little help styling a perfect proposal, call me…just tell me when and where and I’ll be there. Congratulations to the sweet couple!
